Dear Charlotte,
I need some gift ideas for my boyfriend. We’ve only been dating for a few months.
Sincerely,
Kristen
Dear Kristen,
I understand the frustration of gift giving during the holidays. Your circumstances don’t make it any easier, but I’ll give it a shot and help you out. For the purpose of saving my time and not having to write two of the same kinds of articles, I’m including both genders (#sorrynotsorry). Think about what s/he likes or what you hear him/her talk about. Does s/he play an instrument? Is s/he a Sneaker-head? Does s/he like sports? Does s/he own gaming clothing? Is s/he painfully quiet and shy? Yes? Then there is an answer for you!
For the musically gifted or those who simply enjoy music:
For girls, it’s simple; get her a necklace of a random music note that you have no idea what it means or of the instrument that she plays. It’s simple, cheap, and you can pretend you care about the things she likes. Bonus: It can match with any outfit really.
For guys it takes a little more investigating. Find out what he prefers, an actual CD or an Itunes gift card. Once this step is done, then you just need to find out his favorite band and buy him one of their albums.
For the “Sneaker-heads”:
Those who are obsessive over getting the latest pair of J’s (Jordan sneakers) are primarily guys. If you can actually afford those ridiculously priced pieces of leather and rubber, then get a pair for him. If you can’t or he just doesn’t deserve them, get him a shirt with the logo on it. They’re cheaper and he can’t complain because then he knows that’ll tick you off and he won’t see the light of day again.
If it’s a girl, she loves shoes regardless. Get her a pair from DSW because during the holidays they’re cheap as can be, and fashionable!
Sporty People:
Both guys and girls would love a jersey or piney of his/her favorite player or his/her favorite team. It’s simple and cute. However, do not buy a matching one.
Gamers:
Buy your gamer girlfriend or boyfriend a piece of merch or game itself from their favorite gaming series. Buy her an anime shirt or get him some Xbox pajamas.
Shy People:
Get them something cute like a teddy bear. Something like that is simple, sweet, and it’ll be sure to put a smile on his/her face.
For the people who can’t think of anything:
Get them a book. Educate yourselves.
Happy Holidays,
Charlotte.
