Limber de leche is a yummy treat similar to an ice pop treat that can be enjoyed in the summer (or anytime!). It originates from Puerto Rico as a classic frozen treat that is a popsicle made in a cup with milk and cinnamon flavor. It could also come with many different flavors and is a simple, easy recipe that can be mixed in a bowl. Here’s a quick recipe for limber de leche; this should fill up about 16 small cups!
Materials:
- Small plastic cups
- Mixing Bowl
Ingredients:
- 2 cans of evaporated milk
- 1 can of condensed milk
- Teaspoon of sugar
- ½ cup regular milk
- Cinnamon
To start, first, add two cans of evaporated milk to the bowl, then 1 can of condensed milk and mix together. Next, add one teaspoon of sugar then the ½ cup of regular milk and mix together well. Let the mixture sit a moment while you set out the plastic cups, then, add a little bit of cinnamon to the bottom of each cup (use the amount to your liking). Then, pour the finished mixture into the plastic cups. Lastly, place them in the freezer for at least four hours. Make sure you’ve made room in the freezer for all the cups!
If you are adventurous you could try other flavors besides cinnamon. For instance, you could try adding nutella, fruit syrup, or strawberry syrup, shown in these pictures below. To eat your limber de leche, you can stick a popsicle stick in each one when it is about halfway frozen, or, you can simply use a spoon to eat it right out of the cup. Enjoy!
