The history wing at the West Milford high school is going to feel so different without the presence of Mr. Bruce Bialkin. Mr. Bialkin has left a major impact on the school for the 35 years he has been teaching. He has been a class advisor, a coach, and a mentor to many students of West Milford high school.
The beloved history enthusiast originally went to study law in college but changed his mind in the middle of college, deciding instead to follow in his father’s footsteps. Mr. Bialkin knew he wanted to be a teacher because his whole family is full of teachers. Mr.Bialkin started his career at just 21 years old.
His best memory at West Milford High School was meeting his wife, Mrs. White, but of course has plentiful memories of all the friends he made here at WMHS, and of all the kids he has taught over the years.
He will deeply miss his students and the interpersonal relationships he has made along the way, he will miss the atmosphere of West Milford High School as he spent more of his life here than anywhere else. He will also miss the fun and intellectual conversations he has had with peers and students.
Mr. Bialkin’s best advice to aspiring teachers is to have good character as an educator and to forge relationships with your students. He also says trying different approaches with different things is very important as well.
Thank you, Mr.Bialkin, for all you have done for your students, the community and West Milford High School for the past 35 years. Your hard work has never gone unnoticed and your mark has been made on the walls of this school and on the lives of your students forever. Amazing wishes are sent your way. Have a happy retirement!
