Since the Boy’s Lacrosse team’s 2-0 start, the team lost thirteen of their last nineteen games and have an 8-13 record.
It has been a few years since the team has had a winning record, 2021-2022 to be exact.
Since that season, the boys have had a combined record of 24-37 and look to bounce back next season.
Despite their record. the boys did have a strong year altogether. Four of their losses were by two goals or fewer.
To start the season, the Highlanders absolutely pounded Pompton Lakes 15-3, and then beat Wayne Hills 7-6 to claim an early 2-0 record before falling to both Paramus and Delaware Valley.
After that, the boys lost three straight, then won five of their next eight games, before suffering another rough 10-8 loss to Wayne Valley in the Passaic County Finals game.
Just after their County Finals loss, the Highlanders beat Tenafly with a score of 7-6.
Unfortunately, the boys then lost their last four regular season games to Newton, River Dell, Mahwah, and Westwood. West Milford was outscored 43-25 in these four games.
The boys then traveled down to Sparta to play in the State tournament.
Cameron Piecuch, Jake Kelshaw, and Max Gorny all scored for the Highlanders, but the team gave up nine goals, and their season ended.
The girls lacrosse team started off with a 1-1 record after losing to Vernon 7-2 and beating Lenape Valley 15-8.
Unfortunately, the girls’ season did not go as planned after their first two games.
The Lady Highlanders had a few close games, but unfortunately, they were unable to win any of them.
The girl’s team ended its season with a record of 1-15, and the players look to reorganize and rebuild so they can bounce back again next year.
