The Boys Track and Field team had a banner year and brought home the gold as back-to-back Big North In-dependence Division Con-ference Champs!
They followed this achievement with a 2nd place showing at the Passaic County Championship meet with many stand-out performances.
Lorenzo Andrade placed 1st in the 400 hurdles, and 2nd in the 110 hurdles, the 200 and the 4×400 relay. Tyler Meier took 2nd in high jump, 5th in long jump and anchored the 3rd place 4×100 relay team. Noah Diodonet took 4th in the 400 and anchored the 2nd place 4×400 relay team. Julian Pierre took 2nd in the high jump, 3rd in the 4×100 and 2nd in the 4×400 relay.
Zach McDowell took 3rd in the 110 hurdles and 6th in the 400 hurdles. Kyle Gloria took 2nd in pole vault and 3rd in the 4×100 and 2nd in the 4 x 400. Ayden Dean took 3rd in javelin and Jaxon Neubig led the 4×100 team to a 3rd place win.
Several Highlanders had great showings in the Sectional meet including the 4×800 team of Danny Bauer, Sebas Patino, Evan Lynch and Diodonet. Pierre and Meier took 4th and 6th in high jump and both also placed 6th in the 4×100 relay, along with teammates Gloria and Neu-big. The 4x400m team of Andrade, Pierre, Diodonet and fill-in McDowell ran to a 4th place win. Andrade placed 2nd in the 400 hurdles and 6th in the 200m.
Diodonet was the big winner that day with a State Group Champ title for the open 400.
Andrade and Pierre qualified for the Meet of Champs and both took 14th place, which is no easy task. Congrats on a great season, guys!
