Americans tend to feed off the information about celebrities and what goes on in their personal lives, specifically, their love lives. Fans become vested in celebrity couples’ love lives as fans “ship” people with other people and speculate on who is in a relationship with who. Some celebrities have been gracious enough to let us tune in to their relationships and some of these couples we know and love today. Here are the top five most iconic celebrity couples.
Lucy Ball and Desi Arnaz
The iconic couple crossed paths on the set of “Too Many Girls”, quickly fell in love, and eloped in Greenwich all in the same year. Desi made his move by asking Lucy if she knew how to rumba, which she did not. After demonstrating, he offered to teach her, but only on one condition. He would teach her only if she went out on a date with him that same night. Ten years after they got married, the couple founded their own production company, and another year later, the sitcom “I Love Lucy” aired. The pair separated in 1960 due to Desi’s alcohol abuse. The two continued to have so much love for each other and remained friends until the day Desi passed.
Tom Holland and Zendaya
Tom Holland and Zendaya are both best known for their roles as Peter Parker and Michelle “MJ” Jones in the Spider-Man trilogy. The pair met on the set of the movie and had amazing chemistry in their interviews. Fans speculated for years about the two being together, and the couple finally confirmed their relationship in 2021. The couple isn’t in the public eye much and likes to keep their relationship private, however, Zendaya was recently seen at the Golden Globes with a beautiful engagement ring! Although the couple hasn’t come out on their own and officially announced their engagement, fans are still ecstatic and hope nothing but the best for Tom Holland and Zendaya!
Selena Gomez and Benny Blannco
This was a couple that wasn’t expected by the public, but is very well respected. The two met when Gomez featured on Blannco’s 2019 song “I Can’t Get Enough” and then reunited to co-produce Selena’s 2023 single “Single Soon”. The couple announced their relationship six months after Selena’s single was released. The singer and producer announced their engagement in September and are often seen in public very happy together. Fans wish nothing but the best for them!
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddy Prinze Jr
The 90s “it couple” met on the set of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and remained friends for many years. The two connected when they were both supposed to go out with another friend. The third person canceled, leaving them to go to dinner by themselves. In an interview with “People Magazine”, Sarah Michelle Galler stated, “We were two people at dinner catching up… we had a long car ride and a long dinner and things just happened.” The couple has been together since. They have two kids and have been together for almost 26 years. These two show that true love still exists!
Barack and Michelle Obama
Barack and Michelle are one of the most beloved First Couples in history! Their story might shock you as the former first lady declined Barack’s first offer of a date. The pair met at a law firm as Michelle was assigned to be Barack’s mentor. As the two got to know each other, Barack was star struck with Michelle. When he worked up the courage to ask Michelle on a date, she originally declined because she found it tacky that he was asking so soon. Finally, she caved after Barack asked the second time, and they went out on an art museum date. Michelle has always stuck by her husband’s side throughout his entire political career, and the two remain together today! Remember that sometimes persistence is an amazing thing!!
