The yearly invitational art exhibit in Wallkill is a phenomenal place for young artists to be recognized for their talents.
This year the show was on December 10 and several art students of West Milford High School had their submitted pieces displayed at this show. Not only does this provide well-deserved recognition for WMHS’s outstanding program, it also opens doors for our fellow classmates.
Students whose artwork was displayed include:
- Elise Easter (Grade 11) with her two artworks titled “Fissuring Dissonance” and “Alexithymia”.
- Sophia Kitchen (Grade 11) with her acrylic painting, “The Red Portrait”.
- Mia Church (Grade 11) with her detailed display of ceramics.
- Mia Yang (Grade 12) with sculptures of a of a warm meal, “The Taste of Comfort”.
- Brenna Traverso (Grade 11) with her white and black piece titled “Wilson”.
- Valdrita Dauti (Grade 12) with bringing another black and white piece titled “My Perceptions”.
- Sophie Grizzuti (Grade 11) Yet again with another black and white piece named “Kat”.
- Samantha Indoe (Grade 12) presented her acrylic piece titled “My Bright Self”.
- July Gutierrez (Grade 12) was the only one to bring in photography and digital art with the title “Serenity & Citrus Dreams”.
Other schools that participated in this art show include Delaware Valley HS, High Point HS, Kittatinny Regional HS, Montville HS, Mount Olive HS, Roxbury HS, Vernon Township HS, Wallkill Valley HS, Warren Hills HS, Warwick Valley HS, West Milford HS, Eisenhower MS, Franklin Elementary School, Hardyston MS, Lazar MS, Ogdensburg School and Warwick Valley MS.
A huge congratulations goes to Mia Church, who got third place for 3D Media sculptural, and to Mia Yang who got a $25,000 schol-arship for Hartford Art School from judge Roxy Ryan and another $25,000 scholarship for Moore College of Art from judge Alaina Bailey.
