Residents of West Milford and surrounding towns gathered for the 8th annual Spooktacular, which includes the Haunted Hallway and the Trunk or Treat. Sports teams, clubs and organizations throughout the town volunteered to host amazing haunted trunks so our young Highlanders could have a spectacular trunk or treat experience. Around 1200 residents came to the town’s Spooktacular.
Trunks were decorated with themes such as “Wizard of Oz”, camping, Alien UFO, bugs, farming, sharks, beach, ect. There is a contest for the best trunks voted by residents that come to the event. This year’s trunk winner with first place Apshawas school took the win with the bug theme. Second place was the Ambulance Corps with their spooky ambulance, and third place was awarded to the West Milford Lions for their Alien themed trunk.
Macopin Middle School’s haunted hallway was open to anyone who was up for a good scare. The hallways theme this year was “Deep, Deep Darkness”. Teachers and students dressed up to transform the halls of Macopin to be the scariest fright around. Screams from terrified visitors could be heard from outside the building!
This year the trendiest costumes were characters from “Inside Out”, Red from “Descendants”, and a ton of Disney princesses and “Paw Patrol” characters. Plenty of teens and adults were in on the fun as well, and we saw lots of creepy and gory characters, some ever-popular Minions, and even a homemade vending machine!
Thank you to all the students and faculty members who volunteered for this year’s Trunk or Treat. If you missed out on this Spooktacular don’t be scared! Just stay tuned for next year’s Spooktacular that will be in the same places and will be the Saturday before Halloween.
