There are many wonderful fall season desserts to choose from and make, and a star ingredient for the fall is, of course, pumpkin. I thought it would be great to try a recipe that incorporated this popular food into another classic recipe, flan, to make a festive fall Pumpkin Flan. This is a lovely dessert to make for Thanksgiving dinner. Flan is a vanilla custard dessert with sweet caramel on top, and the pumpkin addition makes it perfect for any fall event!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup of pureed pumpkin
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
- 1 can of evaporated milk
Materials needed:
- Frying pan
- Oven tray
- Measuring cup
- Blending machine
- Tablespoon
- Round aluminum foil bowl
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
- Pour 1 cup of sugar in the frying pan and heat it up on a medium flame, stirring it until the sugar is melted to brown and liquid. This is to turn the sugar into a caramel flavor.
3. Next, pour the caramel into a round aluminum foil bowl/mini cup. Be sure to fill it only to the bottom shown in this picture.
4. Now that you’ve completed making the caramel, it is time to make the flan recipe. Beat 4 eggs lightly into a bowl then put them in the blender to mix.
5. The next ingredient is 1 can of sweetened condensed milk. Pour all of it slowly into the blender, once most of it is in, blend it all together.
6. The next ingredient is 1 cup of puree pumpkin. Put it all into the blender then blend once finished.
7. Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon then blend.
8. Lastly, pour 1 can of evaporated milk then blend it all together.
9. Now that the flan recipe is ready you can pour it into the aluminum foil cup/bowl.
10. The next step is to place the dishes in the oven on a tray. Before you put it all in the oven, you need to pour water in the oven tray and fill up the water so it’s halfway up the sides of the aluminum trays the flan is in.
11. Leave the flan in the oven for one hour.
12. When one hour is up, it’s almost complete. Put it in the fridge for one or two hours and once it’s cold enough, it’s ready to enjoy!
