Another standout team this year in the high school is the Boys’ soccer team. The team has significantly improved over the offseason and has a winning record for the first time in nearly 10 years. Since the 8-6-5 record in the 2016-17 season, the boys have gone a combined 38-85-5.
This year, the team completely turned around, having gone 15-2-3 so far, only losing to Fair Lawn early in the season, and to DePaul in the Semi-final Round of the County Tournament. The boys spent the last few years as a young team trying to prepare for the future, and are now one of the best in the county, ranked fourth in North Jersey, Section 1, Group 2. They also have just won the conference championship for the first time in fourteen years.
The boys have scored a combined 52 goals led by juniors Danny Bauer (7) and Julian Pierre (6). Junior Nick Bognar leads the team with 21 points (1 goal, 19 assists). Juniors Donovan Ford and Dominic Lenoir have held down the fort at goalie with a combined 112 saves on the season while only allowing 18 shots to hit the back of the net.
The Highlanders will host a state playoff game on Tuesday, November 5th at 3 pm and look forward to the opportunity to continue the successful season.
