Under the direction of coach Harry Shortway, the girls lacrosse team has a record of 6-6 after playing 12 games, competing against some incredibly tough competition this year. The team has been dominant over the past two seasons with records of 14 and 11 wins so the coach agreed to move up a division.
After a rough two game stretch against Saddle River Day which is 9-2, they also lost a heartbreaker to Saint Elizabeth 12-10 this past Thursday, which also happened to be West Milford’s girl’s Senior Night. The girls bounced back against Passaic Tech on Monday, May 6, in a 16-5 dominating victory in their Passaic County playoff opener. Junior Vivian Sirnik led the team with six goals and senior captain Paige Fava was second lead scorer with five goals of her own. Senior captain Kailey Maskerines led the team in assists with six on the books.
The Highlanders will look to use this momentum against Wayne Hills this Wednesday in West Milford at 4pm to move on in the playoffs. Good luck to our Highlanders and come out to see them play at the turf!
