Summer is right around the corner, which finds people getting ready for their nice vacations, trips to the beach, or even just a sunshiny day at the lake. Here are some more ideas for you or your family for things to do or trips to take during the summer. For me personally, my parents always bring me down the shore and then out of state for vacations. Usually it’s a trip down to Long Beach Island for the weekend and then a trip to Point Pleasant for my siblings. We also go out of state, like this year we are supposed to go to Maine for about a week. We’ve also visited Tennessee, Myrtle Beach, and Outer Banks a few years ago. And then to cap off the summer, usually in late July or early August my grandparents take me to a Mets game of my choice. These activities and vacations we take over the summer are for relaxing and venturing to new places but it’s also for the memories we make and the experiences we get to have together. Here are some ideas for a nice summer activity or trip!
Some little summer activities that you can do are to have a picnic with family and friends at a park, go to a local community center or pool for the day, go out for a hike in the woods, or go camping or fishing near West Milford. There are so many things that you can do!
Going a little broader, you can go to some carnivals or festivals that are close by that are not too far of a drive. There are also state fairs like the Meadowlands State Fair in East Rutherford, NJ which has a lot of rides, attractions and food! The fair this year takes place from June 20 up until July 7!
Then there is the Sussex County Fair which is in Frankford Township NJ which also has rides, attractions, animals, derby and horse races and lots of food! This fair takes place from August 4 up until August 12! There are many other things to do as well like festivals, parades, 4th of July fireworks to go see as well! Many people could also go to a friend’s house and chill and hang out there, or have a barbeque and spend time with family and friends! There are so many things to do, but it’s up to you to find things that suit your interests and desired pastimes.
Now getting a little bigger and further away are other amusement and water parks that you can go to in New Jersey and other states nearby. In New Jersey there is Six Flags Great Adventure down in Jackson Township, NJ. With one of the tallest roller coasters in the world, Kingda Ka, you can experience top speeds of 128 mph and a height of 456 feet high, which, in comparison, is 45 stories tall! They have more big rides and also a kid section for the younger ones! They also have a water park section called Hurricane Harbor that offers water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and more attractions for all ages!
Another big attraction is Diggerland in Berlin Township, NJ, and they also have a section of a water park, rides with construction machines and much more! A couple of bigger named amusement parks that are further away are Cedar Point located in Erie County, Ohio, Hershey Park located in Hershey, PA, Busch Gardens WIlliamsburg which is located in James City County, Virginia. There are so many if you’re willing to take the ride or flight there.
I certainly can’t fail to mention Disney! Disney is where all the magic takes place including cool attractions and rides for all ages, all your favorite Disney characters, and other cool things like fireworks and much more! Disney is such a fun place to go and if you haven’t yet, you should definitely book a trip for Disney!
Since there are so many places to visit either close or far away, there are so many things to do and choices you can make; everyone can find something to fit them perfectly! We are certainly hoping everyone has a great summer and be sure to have fun no matter what you do!
