Pixer and Disney are two of the biggest animation studios in the world. The two studios have collaborated many times making great films. It is also well known that Disney often makes sequels to their films, but those sequels tend to be hit or miss. However, that tends to be just Disney alone, not Pixar. Whenever they make a sequel to one of their movies with Pixar, those movies are usually just as good as the first. This is why everyone is looking forward to the sequel to Disney and Pixar’s 2015 film “Inside Out”, “Inside Out 2”.
“Inside Out” follows Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) an 11-year-old girl who moves from the Midwest to San Francisco. As her world gets turned upside down, her emotions try to guide her through the change. However when Joy (Amy Poehler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) get lost in the depths of Riley’s mind, it is up to Fear, Anger, and Disgust (Bill Hader, Lewis Black, and Mindy Kaling) to watch over headquarters and keep Riley’s mind safe. The film is funny, heartwarming, and, yes, will make you feel most of your emotions along the way. It’s also perfect for a family movie night.
In September 2022 more than five years after “Inside Out” was released, a second film was announced at the D23 Expo. The film is set to release June 14, 2024. Although it will be released almost nine years after the original, the sequel will only be set two years after the first, meaning Riley will be 13 years old. This also means that she will be experiencing new emotions due to her hitting puberty. Her original five emotions won’t know how to deal with these new overwhelming feelings. The movie will most likely be about the original emotions learning how to share and navigate Riley’s mind as she grows and changes.
Joining the cast as new emotions are Maya Hawke as Anxiety, Adéle Exarchopoulos as Ennui, Paul Walter Hauser as Embarrassment, and Ayo Edebiri as Envy. All 4 of these new emotions are sure to make the sequel very fun and interesting. In this film Riley will be played by Kensington Tallman who will replace Kaitlyn Dias from the original. Also getting new voice actors are Disgust and Fear. Tony Hale and Liza Lapira will play them in the sequel, though there were no explanations as to why the voice actors are not returning for the sequel. “Inside Out 2” looks like it could be just as fun as the first. Get tickets now–you will be sure to experience all kinds of emotions while you are watching!
