There are many things in spring to look forward to. The warm weather, outside activities, the end of the school year. There are many holidays in spring as well, one of which is Mother’s Day. The holiday is for mothers everywhere, and for people to show those moms how much they love and appreciate them. People tend to get their mothers, aunts, grandmothers and any mother figure in their lives gifts on this holiday. However, some people may forget about Mother’s Day altogether and not do anything or get anything for their mothers; some just get a gift quickly and don’t put much thought into it. Don’t be one of those people. With this in mind here are the worst gifts to get your mom for Mother’s Day.
Anything Related to Cleaning:
If you ask most moms what is the one thing they hate doing, most moms would probably say anything related to cleaning. A rare mom may actually like cleaning and find it calming to do. However, unless your mom specifically asks for cleaning supplies, it’s probably not a good Idea to get her a feather duster for Mother’s Day.
Money:
Before you ask, yes. I know people love money, and, on any other day, any mom would probably appreciate being given some money. Except on Mother’s Day. Chances are if you give your mom money for Mother’s Day she’ll think either you forgot about Mother’s Day or could not come up with something to do or anything to get it basically says “Here, go buy your own present” when she was expecting something from you, her child. Be more creative!
Something for Yourself:
A lot of moms love spending time with their kids. Making plans to spend the day with your mom is a great idea, especially if you don’t see her that much. However, a way this could be a bad gift is if you’re doing something with your mom that she has NO interest in. If your mother is spending Mother’s Day doing something you like, she’ll probably be bored. It’s selfish to make her do something she has no interest in on her day. Instead, find something you both like.
McDonald’s for Dinner:
Just because it’s Mother’s Day and your mom is not doing the cooking does not mean an automatic trip to McDonald’s. Even if you got your mom a super amazing gift, that does not mean that you get to pick dinner. Instead of French fries and chicken nuggets, ask your mom what SHE wants for dinner for once. This will make her super happy and appreciative.
Clothing:
This could actually be a good Idea, but unless you know your mother’s size in clothes, this one is probably not the best. Women love to pick out their own clothes; they like to pick out the size, the shape, the color, etc., of all their clothing, as well as seeing it before they buy it. Which means it would probably be a great idea to take her with you to buy clothes. Not such a great idea? Going to the store or buying things online and wondering “Will she actually like this?” Plus your mom may want to change up her style for spring. So, when it comes to buying clothing, especially for women, know what the person actually likes before buying anything.
Some of the gifts on this list can be great options for Mother’s Day if done well, others, not so much. So for this Mother’s Day try to get something meaningful for your mom instead of something you’re not sure about.
