The West Milford Highlanders Boys’ lacrosse team is back in the win column after a 10-7 win against Old Tappan. The Highlanders currently sit at 5-6 to start the season and came into this game to snap a two game losing streak.
At the end of the 1st quarter, it was 3-2 and the Highlanders were on top, looking to get back to their winning ways. In the 2nd quarter, the Highlanders scored four times to make it a commanding 7-2 lead at halftime. At halftime, Old Tappan made adjustments. At the end of the 3rd quarter West Milford led 8-4, which would soon get even closer in the 4th.
It was a 10-7 final; a high-scoring affair and one that became close in the end. Leading the way for the Highlanders was junior Vincent D’Andrea. D’Andrea scored four times in the win while also racking up an assist. Juniors Max Gorny and Jake Kelshaw each scored and had assists, with Kelshaw scoring twice. Seniors Nick Lombardo, Nash Appell, and Spencer Ribitzki all scored as well. Freshman Ryan Czcezuga had two assists that night. Goalie Tyler Acanfrio had 15 saves on 22 shots faced.
The Highlanders will hit the road for their next game today, as they get ready to take on the Westwood Cardinals. Westwood is 6-4 so far to start the season. Last April was the Highlanders last square off with Westwood with a 5-2 win for the Cardinals.
