Squidward Community College just barely snuck their way into this year’s March Madness tournament; they took care of Tyrone Tech in the first round, beating them by a score of 81-76.
They will now face the #1 seed, big, bad Bishop Sycamore. Head coach Roy Johnson seems to have all the puzzle pieces in place. Bishop Sycamore has only lost 3 games this entire season. 6’6” 3-point-shot demon Andre Christ simply hasn’t missed, averaging 9.5 three point shots made every game.
Jimmy Butler, former NBA superstar, is the coach of the Squidward Community College basketball, while his team has been counted out by everyone since the beginning of the tournament. He told the team to go and prove the world wrong. His team did just that. Team captain Ryan “Teezus” Tartarilla paved the way for the team’s win. Tartarilla started off the first half going 6 for 6 from 3 point range, including a posterizing dunk over Bishop Sycamore’s 9th year senior and NBA legend Lebron James. The score at the end of the first half was 36-34 in favor of Bishop Sycamore.
It was a fight in the second half as Squidward Community College pulled through. Ryan Tartarilla dropped 50 points in a 92-90 win in double overtime. The student section stormed the court and Squidward Community College will be remembered for their run in the 2024 March Madness tournament.
