Is Luck Real?
Why is St. Patrick’s day associated with luck?? It’s believed to be a Celtic charm; four-leaf clovers were used for magical protection from evil spirits and to repel bad luck. The leaves of the clover stand for faith, hope, luck and love. Whoever comes across a four-leaf clover is granted good luck and is protected against any bad luck.
I do believe partially that luck is real, but at the same time there was something that occurred that made that thing happen, right? For example, when you’re at casinos or when you’re gambling with your money, that is all luck, and if you happen to have luck on your side that day you could win a lot of money. But, if you don’t, you can kiss that money goodbye.
Something like luck plays a role during a person’s life, either once, or maybe multiple times– but it’s not all just “luck”. “Luck” alone has its own terms and reasonings. Being lucky enough to get a good grade on a test or paper isn’t really all luck, in my opinion. You have the information stored in your brain or available to you, so you should know what you’re being tested on and get a good grade on that test. Studying and hard work take the place of “luck” here.
Now, if you almost get your life taken, or almost get hurt really badly, and there was something that occurred not to let that happen, then I do think that is luck. There has been some evidence to support the idea that luck is real and producing positive thoughts is a great way to improve your luck, or at least your thoughts on it. According to psychologists, having a positive mindset and believing in good things means that you actively take more steps to make those good things happen, thereby producing some luck yourself. Pretty neat.
I also believe that all things happen for a reason. When luck does happen, though, I think it’s pretty strange, because you don’t really know when it’s coming or what to expect, but when it happens you’re shocked and probably most times happy about the outcome. Like I said earlier, I partially believe in luck, and don’t find all of luck real. An example would be if you pick any number and write it on a piece of paper and throw it into a bucket, and there are thousands of other numbers in there, and by some lucky chance they grab down and pick your number–it was all luck. There isn’t really much about it. It just happens out of nowhere and most of the time it has a really good outcome for people.
Luck happens in all varieties of ways that people can’t describe, and that’s what makes it lucky for people that receive luck and the positivity around it. Luck is all around us, and who knows you might get lucky sometime during your life.
Here is an extreme story of both the luckiest and most unluckiest person around,
This is the story of “Frane Selak”. In his name, there’s “Luck” (Se’lak’). This person is called the luckiest unluckiest person in the world. This is because he hasn’t cheated death one time, not even two times, but SEVEN TIMES! It’s 1962. Selak was traveling on a train. His train went off the tracks and fell into the sea. In that accident, in the compartment he was sitting in, 17 people died, but nothing major happened to him, just his hand got fractured.
And this is just the beginning. After that, in 1963, Selak sat in an airplane for the first time. The airplane door was loose, and he fell from the plane. But because there was an issue with the door, the plane crashed, and 19 people died. But Selak, who fell from the sky, wasn’t stuck on a date tree, but fell in a haystack. He didn’t even get a bruise and was saved easily.
After that, in 1966, he was involved in a bus accident. In 1968, he suffered a gunshot. In 1970 and 1973, there were two car accidents, and in 1995, a bus crashed into him. All of these accidents were very severe, but he was saved from all of them. And this was nothing because, in 2003, Selak won a lottery just two days after his birthday and won $1.1 million dollars. Now that is just unbelievably lucky!
