Giving gifts to family, friends, and significant others on special holidays like Christmas, birthdays, or Valentine’s Day is a really good way to show your love and appreciation. Store bought gifts like flowers, jewelry, clothes, ect. are great things to buy for others, but what about homemade gifts such as cards, candles, picture frames, etc.? Are homemade gifts more from the heart than store bought gifts? Is it the bang for your buck, the expensive gift that impresses, or is it still the thought that counts?
Everyone has different things going on in their lives. Some days are busier than others, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t enough time to get a gift for someone you care for on important days. Some may believe that buying a gift for your friend or family member isn’t coming from your heart. There are people who have families to take care of, who go to school, or who have important jobs and these people may not have the time, or sometimes the energy, to make handmade gifts. That doesn’t mean they’re not thinking about you since they’re buying you something from the store. It definitely still shows that you are on their mind and they care about you, even if they can’t take hours of hand design or create something. Some people don’t get any gifts on holidays or on their birthdays at all, so whether or not the present came from the store, the recipient should be grateful.
Making gifts is more time consuming and people have lives to live. But, for those who are creative and have the time, making gifts is always a fun option that comes from the heart. It shows that you listen to the person’s likes and dislikes. When making a person a gift, it puts the mind at ease because there is a high chance they don’t have that item already. When making a gift you are also saving money. Making someone a card is just as special as buying them one and you’re saving money. Making a gift can fulfill whatever idea or vision you have in mind. When shopping in stores, it is sometimes hard to get exactly what you’re looking for. At least when making it, you have the specific image in your head of what you want. It will come out the way you want it and the other person will feel loved and appreciated!
Whether you give someone a homemade gift or a gift bought at the store, it is always nice to give someone something on a birthday, wedding, or holiday. It is always the thought that counts when giving a gift. Extravagant gifts don’t always show the love someone has for you. So if you get a homemade or store bought gift, be grateful for what you receive.
