Like many other states, New Jersey has not had any snow this holiday season. Every kid enjoys when they wake up to snow, especially when they learn school is closed. Nothing is worse than when you don’t know how to spend your snow day. But on the off chance we do get some, maybe even this weekend, here are five ways to enjoy the snow.
1. Sit by the fire.
One of the best parts about winter is cozying up by the fire—a hot chocolate in one hand and an excellent book in the other. You can still cozy up to watch a movie or show if you’re not a reader. If you are the type of person who doesn’t like the snow, this is the perfect option for you. The heat from the fire will keep you warm while still keeping in with the winter theme.
2. Play out in the snow.
Going outside to playing in the snow is one of the best parts of getting snow in the first place. It is also, for many of us, a cherished nostalgic activity. You can build a snowman with cute button eyes and a carrot nose. You can also make a snow angel by moving your arms and legs up and down while lying in the snow. If you have friends or family, you can bring them outside for a snowball fight. Build an igloo together or make other creative shapes out of snow—just be careful you layer up, wear gloves and a hat and come inside before you get too cold out there!
3. Baking
Whether baking cookies, cakes, or cupcakes, baking is perfect for snow days. You can try out new recipes or perfect old ones. Nothing is better than eating warm baked goods on a cold, snowy day. It’s even better when they are homemade!
4. Go sledding!
If you find yourself bored on a snowy day, here’s a great solution that gets you outside. One of the most fun snow day activities is to find a snowy hill and grab your sled. Nothing is more enjoyable than feeling the wind in your hair and the snow on your face while you sled down a hill. It is fun, as long as you’re being safe.
5. Play board games or make art.
If you’re bored, playing board games or making art is one of the most fun activities. There are plenty of board games or card games you can play. You can play with your friends or family or find a game you can play by yourself. You don’t have to be an artist to make art. You can find cute crafts online and try to copy them, or, you can grab your coloring supplies and draw something.
These activities have no age limit either. They are a fun way to enjoy a snow day or get into the holiday spirit. Give these activities a try on your next snow day!
