Happy Halloween! West Milford celebrated earlier by hosting the 7th Annual Spooktacular on October 28th from 4 to 8. The weather was perfect for trick or treating. The lowest hitting 57° and the highest hitting 84°. Not too cold and not too hot. At around 7 p.m., the rain and wind started to pick up. The bad weather at the end did not deter trick-or-treaters from having a scary good time. Over 45 trunks participated in the event, and tickets for the Haunted Hallways were sold out by the night’s end.
Trunks went above and beyond this Halloween by transforming the scene with imaginative decorations, costumes, and candy. There was even a trunk that was handing out bananas! The Student Council and National Honor Society also gave kids a gift card for a free kids’ ice cream sundae. Over 2,500 people attended in wicked costumes, leaving with a bag full of candy. Delicious food and sweet treats were provided by Cherry On Top Ice Cream Truck, Burgers and More, and Happy Dogs. Thank you, Colleen Twohig, for providing catchy Halloween music throughout the night. At the end of the night, the winners of the trunk competition were announced. A big congratulations is for the Ambulance Core, Apshawa Fire Truck, and the Lions. Macopin and the High School helped raise about $3,500 for local food pantries.
Thank you to all the clubs, community organizations, teachers, students, and staff who made this night memorable. Let’s hope next year’s Spooktacular is as awesome!
