The cult classic “Mean Girls” is a movie known far and wide. Whether you have seen the movie or just heard references, it has made an impressive impact on pop culture. Classic lines like “on Wednesdays we wear pink” and “that’s so fetch” or the iconic date of October 3rd all stem from the popular movie. The movie was so popular, “Mean Girls” was adapted into a broadway production that will be coming out in theaters on January 12, 2024. This musical gained just as much popularity and this version is now being released in theaters! Everyone mark your calendars…and get ready for the new and improved “Mean Girls”.

The “Mean Girls” movie had an outstanding cast and some members will return to reprise their roles. Tina Fey who played Mrs. Norbury and Tim Meadows who played Principal Duvall will come back in the 2024 film to play those same characters as they did in the original film, despite the new cast that has been formed. Actors like Angourie Rice, Bebe Woods, and Christopher Briney are featured in the movie. Renée Rapp will also be in the movie starring as Regina George for the second time, since she was Regina George in the Broadway production of “Mean Girls”. Elements from the 2004 film are also blended into the new movie like the famous burn book, the infamous “Get in loser; we’re going shopping” line, and the “Jingle Bell Rock” scene. 

Whether the actors themselves are singing or music is being played to tell a story, movie soundtracks can make or break a movie. The Broadway production had many hits including “Meet the Plastics and” “World Burn”. The soundtrack of the movie hasn’t been announced but there is a possibility that those songs could be featured on the movie soundtrack. 

Almost 20 years later, “Mean Girls” is still one of the most popular movies known to man. Most people are scared when a movie is converted to a musical, but “Mean Girls The Musical” seems very promising. With a great cast and good music, this musical can take over the world. “Mean Girls the Musical” is going to sell out fast, so make sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.
