We are getting close to the new year and with that comes all of the festive holidays! The holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends. Christmas is one of the most celebrated and loved holidays. While it can be stressful to put up Christmas decorations or to go Christmas shopping, not to mention cooking for your loved ones, a lot of people can’t wait for the Christmas season. In fact, some people may start decorating or start Christmas shopping as early as late September.
This brings the question up : When is it too early to start to celebrate Christmas? Some people wait until the day after Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, others choose to decorate on the holiday of Thanksgiving itself. Some people start on November 1 and have all of their Christmas decorations up by Thanksgiving. People even just leave their Christmas lights up all year round. Personally, my family and I always decorate the day after Thanksgiving. It doesn’t matter when you decorate. If it brings you joy, you can start celebrating whenever you want.
Even if you have a certain day where you prefer to decorate your house, you may be doing other things related to Christmas without realizing it. Listening to Christmas music is the perfect example. Many people like to blast Christmas music in November, just because they can. It is also common to hear it on the radio really early as well. Christmas music makes people happy and puts them in a joyful mood, so why not? You do you!
Another good question when it comes to celebrating Christmas is : When should people get their tree? If you have a real one, my advice is don’t get it early November unless you are really good at watering plants. It can be fun to have a tree all nice and decorated early, but if you don’t water it, it will be dead by Christmas. No one wants a dead tree! It is a bad idea especially if you plan to have it up until New Year’s Eve. If you want to get a real tree, a good time would probably be right before Thanksgiving.
The answer to the question : Is it too early to celebrate Christmas? It’s really up to you! If you want Christmas in fall, it is absolutely possible. If you don’t, that’s ok too. Don’t get mad at people for having their own opinions on the holidays. After all, it’s Christmas. It is about the spirit and the feelings, so people can start celebrating whenever they want.
