Barbie has been an icon for years. She has been anything a person can ever want to be, from an artist to an astronaut to a doctor. We all know her not only as the outrageously popular fashion doll, but for her most popular movies like “Barbie a Fairy Secret” or “Barbie and the Three Musketeers”, but July 21 is when the newest Barbie movie comes out, and it’s no cartoon.

The movie will show live action Barbie and Ken and the adventures they have with their friends. The cast consists of well known sensations like Dua Lipa, Kate McKinnion and Will Farrell. The stars who will take on the leading roles as Barbie and Ken are Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The film takes place in the perfect world of Barbie Land. While living in the perfect world, Barbie becomes more self-aware and goes through an existential crisis. She and Ken then find the real world and together figure out how to live in a normal life instead of their perfect one. Will this move top off all the Barbie movies that people love and adore?  

In the trailer it is shown that the director of the movie included different eras of Barbie. For example the popular 1959 beach Barbie with the black and white chevron bathing suit or Barbies pink gingham dress. Both outfits are worn by Margot Robbie in the film. Not only are famous Barbie outfits shown, other characters like Ken’s best friend Allen are in the movie. It is not confirmed that Barbie’s sisters Skip, Stacey, or Chelsea are in the movie, but there is a great possibility. 

Like all movies this one will also have a soundtrack. The artists on this soundtrack fit perfectly with Barbie’s aesthetic. Singers like Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Charlie XCX, Ice spice, Kahlid and Nicki Minaj will be making appearances in the movie’s soundtrack. Greta Gerwig’s perception of Barbie is inspirational. In the trailer it is shown how independent and strong Barbie is. She is a resilient character, and it is great for young girls to have Barbie as an inspiration.

“Barbie” is the must see movie of the summer and something the people have been waiting patiently for. It is going to be a refreshing fun movie considering the fun soundtrack and the whole plot of the movie. You will leave the theater with higher spirits. It is a must see movie and will be an inspiration for generations young and old.
