As fall comes back around, one thing many people look forward to is Halloween, a widely loved holiday where you can eat candy, spend time with friends and dress up in scary costumes. Just as with everything else, Halloween trends seem to be changing constantly, and not everyone wants to be a played-out cat or a witch.  Been there, done that. So what costumes are “in” this year? 

In big groups sometimes it’s hard to pick a good costume that nobody else will be wearing; dressing up with your friends as Monster High Dolls can solve that problem.  Adding makeup to a Halloween costume is the best way to ensure a fun and different look. A good way to incorporate makeup to your costume is by being a skeleton. By adding makeup, you can use different colors, designs, and techniques to make your look fit you.  You could be a Day of the Dead skeleton, like a sugar skull, or it could be darker and more “traditional”, or it could even be bloody and red.   The options are endless. 

Maybe you want to dress up by yourself this year and have your own costume. There are also many ideas for single person costumes that will make you stand out. Many people try to go an easy route with a cat or a vampire, but there are so many fun alternatives.  Bringing back old fashion trends is always cute, so why not Halloween trends? Being a superhero or a princess has been done many times in the past, but recently have been overlooked. For this Halloween, wear your childhood’s favorite superhero/villain or princess costume. Belle, Cinderella, Tiana, Rapunzel, Snow White, Mulan, or Aurora from Sleeping Beauty would be cute or early 2000s superheroes including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mario and Luigi, Teen Titans, Batman, Spiderman, Sharkboy and Lavagirl, the Punisher or X-Men are also good throwback ideas.
