Movies Everyone Should Watch in a Lifetime and Why Part Three

Watching movies never gets old, but watching the same thing over and over again does. This article will give you some new options that you may not have seen, or even heard of, with all different genres.

To start off is a movie featuring a tragic love story called “A Walk to Remember” starring Mandy Moore and Shane West, which is sure to make anyone who watches cry. This movie is about a terminally ill teen girl named Jamie who falls for Landon, the typical movie “bad boy”. During their romance, they make each other better people, teaching each other things about life and love. This movie is a sweet romance, based off the Nicholas Sparks novel, and is great for a girl’s night viewing.

If romance isn’t your style, try “Goodfellas” a classic, Italian mobster movie starring Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro, and Ray Liotta. There’s violence, profanity, and adultery, and the film is based on true mafia events. The movie will have viewers at the edge of their seats the entire time, waiting to see who gets whacked next. The characters are likeable and hateable all at once, and there are a whole two and a half hours of them to enjoy. This is by far one of my favorite movies, and is something I could watch over and over again.

Is a Rom-Com piquing your interest? Try “Easy A” starring Emma Stone. This movie has an extremely popular cast, including Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, Lisa Kudrow, and Stanley Tucci, and is loosely based on the novel “The Scarlet Letter”. High school senior Olive is a virgin, but when she began to lie about her “weekend experiences”, things began to spiral out of control. She begins to wear a bright red A on her clothes, like Hester Prynne had to, and gets paid so boys can lie about things they have done with her. This movie is extremely comical and will leave audiences with smiles on their faces.

For a classic with a star-studded cast, try the “Ocean’s Eleven” trilogy. Starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, and more, these movies center on a famous thief, Danny Ocean (Clooney) who has just been released from prison in New Jersey and has a thirst to steal more. During the first “Ocean’s” movie, with the help of a specially devised team, Ocean concots his plan as long as three rules are followed: “Don’t hurt anybody, don’t steal from anyone who doesn’t deserve it, and play the game like you’ve got nothing to lose.” “Ocean’s Twelve” follows the gang to Europe as they are looking for bigger, more expensive places to rob. This movie contains the same cast, and has the same amount of scheming and thoughtfulness of the first movie. “Ocean’s Thirteen”, which is the last installment of the franchise, circles back to robbing casinos as Ocean is determined to seek revenge for his friend against Willy Bank, played by Al Pacino. For the last time, the circle will come together to devise a plan so mastermind they can walk away with millions of dollars, and not get caught.

“Silver Linings Playbook” which has received multiple awards from the Academy, is the story of Pat Solatano, played by Bradley Cooper. Solatano has just been released from a mental institution after having a mental breakdown caused by losing his job and his wife leaving him. He goes to live with his parents, and meets Tiffany, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who offers to help Solatano win his wife back in exchange for helping her win a dance competition. Both main characters in this movie suffer from different mental disorders, however, when those disorders take effect significantly impacts the course this movie takes. It is a fantastic watch that will keep viewers interested and invested in the characters the entire time, rooting for their well-being and their overall successes.
