Girls basketball short update slam dunk
With the season having closed, the girls basketball team season was an overall success. Varsity’s season ended with a record of 6-9, culminating with a triumphant win against Fair Lawn on March 5. The girls played tough every game, and made the best of the time they had due to the shortened season.
JV remained undefeated for a large portion of their season, finishing up with a 11-4 record. The JV girls had a very successful season, keeping it close almost every game and finishing with a winning season. It ended on March 5, like Varsity’s, against Fair Lawn. The girls poured their hearts and souls into the game, and their hard work clearly paid off, having such a great record.
The freshman team finished out the season on March 2, with a record of 5-6. Their last game against PCTI ended in a win, which allowed the girls to end the season on a positive note. The freshman team shows much promise to grow and develop their skills in the following years, and their dedication to the game only made them better.
Senior night was held February 23, where captains Alex Buonanno, Rory McCormick, and Amanda Gerold, along with Mackenzie Dates and Brielle Hanley, received senior gifts to honor their big night. Best of luck to these girls as they graduate and move on from high school basketball.
Parents of all players were allowed to attend the games, but that is all–no siblings, grandparents, friends, etc., could attend. Family and friends were able to watch these games from home, thanks to West Milford TV Science for filming the home games, and to the other schools for live streaming theirs.
