Paul’s Place is a local hot dog joint where people of West Milford come together for arguably the best burgers and hot dogs in town. The location, 1849 Greenwood Lake Turnpike, couldn’t be more ideal; it is right on the lake, which gives a beautiful view of the sailboat marina. This restaurant is a classic “don’t judge a book by its cover” kind of place. The exterior and interior have remained unchanged since its establishment in 1970s. The rotating stools on the inside look like the 90’s left them behind. The aged wood paneling is a perfect look to accompany the light green booths and fake wood tables. The exterior could use an upgrade, but so could every other building in West Milford, and one could argue that the exterior is actually cute and simple. Looking past the building, the food is exceptional.

The burgers always come out perfectly cooked and there are spectacular toppings from which you can choose to finish off your burger, including cheese, fried onions or chili. If you want, you can upgrade your meal to an “all the way” burger or hot dog, which is all the toppings combined into a delicious mess.

If you’re not in the mood for a hot dog or burger, they offer other options. The sandwiches are a delicious alternative, especially the triple decker sandwiches, which can come with roast beef, pastrami, turkey, or tuna. There are a bunch of sides to compliment your order such as onion rings, a tossed salad, or fries, with or without gravy.

Great beverages are an essential to any meal and Paul’s Place has plenty of those. You can get anything from a hot coffee to a homemade chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla milkshake. Paul’s Place not only has the best milkshakes in town, but the absolute best homemade grape and orange soda.

The prices at Paul’s Place are extremely reasonable. A “burger all the way”, is a mere $2.95 and a soda is $1.75; so for under $5 you have a perfect meal for after school or a weekend lunch. If you want to get a sandwich instead, the price depends on what kind you get, but it is around $7-8 dollars, which is still under $10 for a full lunch. If you’re looking for a delicious and inexpensive meal, Paul’s Place is definitely the place to go.
