West Milford Boys and Girls Cross Country medal winners after competing in the County Tournament.

West Milford Cross Country teams, both boys and girls, recently had their first major victories in roughly a decade. Early October brought the boys a Big-North Independence Conference Championship, while the girls nabbed second place. Five males from the team placed in the top 20 overall, while four females placed in their top 20 overall.

Junior Joey Cummings finished third overall with a time of 17:01. Collin Clinton, freshman, finished fourth with a time of 17:06, and senior Alex Metcalf was ninth with a time of 17:30.
Senior Walter Hass finished llth and sophomore Jack Osterle finished in 20th place.

Abigail Porch, senior and Mackenzie Milne, junior, took 3rd and 4th places while Emmanuelle Sadlo, senior, finished in 12th place, and freshman Kate Vreeland placed 15th.

Success in this event boosted the teams’ confidence as they went to the counties where the boys and girls teams both came away with third place overall.

In this race, Clinton placed 6th overall, while Cummings placed 9th. Abigail Porch placed 10th. Emmanuelle Sadlo, 19th place,
Alex Metcalf, 14th place, and Walter Hass, 18th place, will be named to Second Team All-Passaic County.

“We have a great bunch of guys that set goals and go out and accomplish them,” said boys head coach Joe Andriulli. Andrea Jones, girls head coach, stated in an interview with northjersey.com, “I’m so proud of my team and their performances.”

Overall, West Milford had six runners earning First and Second Team all-county, more than any other school.
The weekend of November 4 and 5 the teams will head to the state meet and are hoping for the best.
