The thrilling college football season finally closed out with a bang as the Alabama Crimson Tide square off against the Clemson Tigers in a rematch from last season’s championship. The rematch will go down in history as one of the most exciting championship games of all time. The Crimson Tide was going for a milestone never accomplished in NCAA history. Five championships in eight years. The Alabama football program has been nothing short of a dynasty over the last decade led by their head coach, Nick Saban. In the 2015-16 season Alabama won by a close score of 45-40. Since that night, Dabo Swinney, and all Clemson fans wanted Alabama one more time; they got their wish and then some. Swinney throughout the season told his players, “Let the light inside you shine brighter than the light that shines on you” (tigernet.com). Heisman Trophy quarterback, Deshaun Watson of Clemson led the Tigers throughout the season and closed his college career with a 420 yard passing performance including three touchdowns, three in the air, and one on the ground. This was an impressive performance from arguably the top quarterback in the country on the grandest stage of all on the collegiate level. The championship win for Clemson was their first since 1981. The game winning catch was caught by former walk-on wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. An amazing 14-1 season for the Clemson Tigers was capped off with a bang and sweet revenge. It was a Happy New Year for Clemson fans all over the country.
