The illuminati has been a subject of controversy, satire, and conspiracy for some time. However, some may or may not know that the illuminati was, or still is, an organization. In the 1770’s, the Bavarian Illuminati was a secret society, comprised of those who opposed superstition and religion influence over public life. Along with the Freemasons and several other secret groups, they were outlawed through an edict by the Bavarian ruler. Several years later, the illuminati and other groups would be vilified, and religious and conservative critics would claim them to be continuing underground and accused them of causing the French Revolution. Nowadays, in popular culture, the illuminati are treated as a huge joke. There are some things you think about in today’s world when you hear illuminati. One of these being conspiracy theories. Examples include who was really behind the 9/11 attacks, the JFK Assassination, Faked Moon Landing, and many more. More wild theories include the Queen of England being an illuminati member, Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter is ‘definitely illuminati’, and many more. A joke you may have heard or not, being ‘illuminati confirmed’, as one of the more stupid things  surrounding the illuminati. However, though there is a satirical side to the illuminati conspiracy, there is a serious aspect. This being that the illuminati is still around today, and is striving to achieve a New World Order. It is speculated they are doing this by planting agents in modern media, government, and other aspects of society. Their goal is to establish a totalitarian world government, and for there to be not several nations, but one. The conspiracy is stemmed from two countercultures, anti-government and end-times of Christianity. The latter, being that the Antichrist will come and be a charismatic ruler and join all nations under one flag. However you choose to see things, the illuminati is something that may emerge as a serious issue, or stay a joke.
