Donald Trump is a hot mess

To be considered a viable candidate for presidency is a hard feat to accomplish, as the numerous unwritten requirements can far surpass the ability of the majority of the population. While some of the candidates for the 2016 presidential election have more than proven capable of speaking well, some are not so gifted, resulting in many verbal mishaps forever ingrained in the history books. Through social media, publicly aired speeches and interviews, and even through accounts made by acquaintances, unintelligible one-liners have defined this year’s candidates as maybe one of the most impulsive, unreasonable, and unsuited-for-political-power group of people the public eye has ever known.

One of these people, however, has stood out as possibly the most illiterate of the bunch ever since his declaration of candidacy, and maybe even since before. Donald Trump, 69 year old owner of Trump Enterprises, with a net worth of over 4 billion USD has decidedly become one of the biggest flops in the country (besides his hair) by assuming that he is intelligent enough to be in charge of a whole country– although maybe the most frightening part of it is the startling amount of followers his campaign has gained. Numerous quotes by him have started to blur the line between comical and scary, although mind you, it’s not his political beliefs that are (necessarily) the problem. The United States has had presidents with radically offensive views before (not that it’s to be condoned), but even just the structure of these simple comments can be bewildering. Perhaps my only pretense is that although nation-wide censorship should not be allowed, thinking about what to say before actually saying it is heavily advised to presidential candidates, as shown with the quotes below.

“If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?” -Donald Trump (2015)… Contrary to popular belief, the political efficiency of the United States has little to do with the unfaithful habits of one man.

“While Bette Midler is an extremely unattractive woman, I refuse to say that because I always insist on being politically correct.” -Donald Trump (2012)… Finally, someone politically correct that we can all count on. What would America do without the wisdom and guidance of this extremely articulate man.

“All of the women on ‘The Apprentice’ flirted with me — consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.” -Donald Trump (2004)…Well, I do have a soft spot for badly made toupees and unjustified superiority complexes.

“ A certificate of live birth is not the same thing by any stretch of the imagination as a birth certificate.” -Donald Trump (2011)… Couldn’t have said it better myself!

“I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.” -Donald Trump (2006)… It’s nice to see that the potential presidents aren’t predators who see no boundaries where blood lie.

It’s safe to say with an air of finality that taking third grade level language arts classes aren’t considered necessary to the general public to hold one of the most influential positions in the country, and that apparently diplomacy has little to do with sensible thought.
