“Mindblowing! Out of this World! Fantastic! Keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole entire time.” These are just a few things people have to say about one of the newest Marvel movies to come out this year. This has definitely been one of my favorite Marvel movies to come out in a long time. If you have not seen “Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier,” I highly recommend you do so as soon as you can!
The movie starts off with Steve Rogers (Captain America) out for a run in Washington D.C. While running he meets a man named Samuel Wilson. Rogers and Wilson get to talking and Wilson shares that he used to be in the Army and now works for the debriefing section. Rogers is then picked up by Natasha Romanoff, “The Black Widow,” to have him partake in a S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division) mission. The mission was that they had to rescue hostages on a pirate-jacked S.H.I.E.L.D. ship. Romanoff was given a special mission by Nick Fury (Head of S.H.I.E.L.D) to get data that is on the ship’s computers. Fury then tells Rogers about Project Insight which has three helicarriers that can track and eliminate threats in the blink of an eye. But Fury then gets suspicious about the project and delays it. Fury is then later attacked by the Winter Soldier when he was leaving work. Fury escaped to Rogers’s apartment where he manages to get shot by the Winter Soldier. Fury then tells Rogers to trust no one and gave him the data that Romanoff got from the S.H.I.E.L.D. ship, before he became unconscious. Rogers’s neighbor breaks in, revealing to be an agent from S.H.I.E.L.D. issued to protect him. Fury later dies in surgery; the next day Rogers was question as to what he and Fury talked about before he was shot and killed. Rogers is considered a fugitive for withholding information. Romanoff and Rogers go on the run to try to find out what is on the flashdrive with the data from S.H.I.E.L.D. They then learn there is a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. bunker in New Jersey where they find a super computer which contains the brains of a Hydra (A world wide group dedicated to world domination) scientist Arnim Zola. Zola explains to Romanoff and Rogers what he has been doing by working from the inside of S.H.I.E.L.D. A missile then blows up the bunker with hopes of killing Rogers and Romanoff. Luckily, Rogers had his infamous shield and it protected them from the blast.
Romanoff and Rogers then return to Washington D.C.; where they recruit Wilson to help them take down Hydra and the Insight project. Wilson reveals that he was a pararescueman who used a falcon wingpack to complete his missions. As they were going to S.H.I.E.L.D. to try to take down Project Insight, they are ambushed by the Winter Soldier. During the fight between them all, Rogers recognizes the Winter Soldier, as his best friend who ‘died’ during World War II, Bucky Barnes. Barnes did not die during the war, he was captured and then experimented on during the war. Romanoff, Rogers, and Wilson manage to escape with Agent Hill, where she brings them to Fury who faked his own death to prevent more threats on his life. They develop a plan where they can take down Insight before it becomes a threat to millions of innocent lives. They go into the Helicarriers and successfully take down two of the carriers with a lot of time to spare, but the third carrier leads to trouble, because when Rogers gets to the third the Winter Soldier is waiting for him. They then fight but Rogers refused to hurt his best friend, even though they fought Rogers still managed to take down the third carrier without any innocent people being harmed.
