On March 28th, the juniors here at West Milford High School had a night out on an “Electric Avenue” themed prom. The junior prom was held at Casa Bianca, a restaurant in Oak Ridge, NJ. The prom was said to be a success as numerous glamorized couples walked in excited to dance and mingle with friends.
First off, the cocktail hour was held in a tiny area which was very uncomfortable for the juniors. One junior Annie Ney recalled how, “It was such a tight squeeze you were basically on top of one another. The place was a bit small to be honest but fun was still shown on all the junior’s faces.” The cocktail hour just consisted of soft drinks and finger foods which were a bit cold but everyone was too excited to see their peers therefore, the cold food didn’t bother anyone. The main seating and dance floor opened up to the catchy known song called “Electric Avenue” by Eddy Grant and students proceeded to their seats. After finding their seats, the students slowly but surely made their way to the dance floor. The students danced for a bit then dinner was said to be ready. Most students ate but a lot remained dancing, too busy having fun to sit down and eat. At about 9 o’clock, dessert was served and students left the dance floor to get some delicious cake and ice cream which was very good. Overall though, the food was average which was said by numerous students that attended prom. Jessica Owens mentioned, “The atmosphere was positive and I had a great time!” As you can see, most enjoyed the time they had even if there were some small negative aspects, because you can’t appease everyone’s interests. The juniors can now get excited for senior prom!
