The season started right after Thanksgiving break, only problem the ski team was missing an important factor; the snow. After Christmas break the snow did not stop, resulting in a great season for the skiers everywhere. The season officially concluded at the end of February.
The Teams Records
Overall the girls had a record of 9-49 and the boys had a record of 28-34. Even though they did not have the best records they still made it to states against the odds. In States the girl’s team came in 0-11 for both Giant Slalom and Slalom. Boys came in 3-8 (meaning they beat 3 teams out of the 11) for Giant Slalom and 5-6 (Beat 5 teams out of 11) in Slalom. The season did not end at states for some racers.
Race of Champions
A handful of the West Milford Team continued to compete in the Race of Champions. The Race of Champions (ROC) was held at both Mt. Creek in Vernon and Mt.Peter in Warwick. During the ROC at Mt. Creek, Senior Captain Krista Campbell, Junior Michael Stabile, Sophomore Matthew Perez and Sophomore Collin Timony raced Giant Slalom. During this race Krista came in 20th out of all the girls, Michael Stabile came in 31st out of the boys, Matthew Perez came in 26th and Collin came in 21st. The second day of the ROC was held at Mt. Peter where they competed in Slalom. Krista Campbell came in 14th for Slalom, Michael Stabile came in 18th, Matthew Perez came in 15th and Collin Timony came in 19th. Overall for the Race of Champions Krista Campbell came in 14th, Michael Stabile came in 21st, Matthew Perez came in 15th and Collin Timony came in 16th. Krista Campbell then went to Regionals in Attitash, New Hampshire, where she raced her final races of her high school career.
