The Super Bowl is one of the most watched televised events in the United States each year, raking in more than 100 million viewers. The game is often known for its commercials, showstopping half-time show, and of course the battle between two NFL teams for the Lombardi Trophy. This year, the XLVIII Super Bowl was suspected to be a suspenseful game matching up the Seattle Seahawks–the #1 defensive line, and the Denver Broncos–the #1 offensive line. The game did not quite meet its expectations, falling flat with the Seattle Seahawks destroying the Denver Broncos 43-8. The masterful defense never let the five time MVP Peyton Manning get going, disarming the highest scoring offense in league history. Stated by linebacker Bobby Wagner, “ The only way we could say we were the best defense was to take down the best offense.” The Seahawks were too quick, too physically and mentally prepared for the Broncos. The half-time score came to be 22-0. The half-time performance by Bruno Mars was excellent and resulted in positive feedback from the Super Bowl audience. Many remarked that the singer is “classy” and that it was a great show to watch, one that was a nice alternative to the recent twerking, tongue wagging and various state of undress from other performers. It was a show where “parents didn’t have to worry about their kids being in the room,” says an anonymous source. The game ended in a 43-8. The Super Bowl did not create a hype at all.
