From Miley Cyrus’s performance at the VMA’s, to Beyonce releasing her album with no notice, 2013 has been quite a memorable year in the music industry. As the New Year begins, many cannot help but wonder what’s in store for their favorite bands this year or who the up and coming artists of 2014 are. Below is a list which highlights upcoming album releases, tours, and new artists which may make 2014 an unforgettable year in music history.
- This summer, Paramore and Fall Out Boy will be touring together. The tour kicks off on June 19 in Hartford, Connecticut and is scheduled to run through August 17 at Concord, California. Pre-sale for the tickets began Jan. 13 and tickets are available to the general public on January 17.
2. One Direction’s “Where We Are Tour,” beginning this April, is projected to gross more than $300,000,000 in ticket sales. This will allow the band to make the list for the top-ten grossing tours of all time. Other bands who have accomplished this feat include U2, the Rolling Stones, and The Police.
3. Little Mix’s sophomore album “Salute” will be available in the US on Feb. 4. Tracks off the album include their singles “Move” and “Little Me.”
- Lucy Hale, known for her role as Aria on the hit TV show “Pretty Little Liars,” is planning to release an album this spring. Her first single “You Sound Good to Me” was released on Jan. 7.
- Kanye West and Jay-Z plan to release their new album “Watch the Throne 2” this summer.
- Hilary Duff, known for her role as the title character in Lizzie McGuire, confirmed Nov. of 2013 via Twitter that she is working on a new album. She hopes to release a new single by this spring.
- One Republic will be touring with The Script this summer in their “Native Summer Tour.” The band will be promoting their latest album “Native.” The tour is set to start May 28 in Denver, Colorado and end June 29 in Wantagh, New York.
- Beyonce’s world tour, “The Mrs. Carter Show,” will kick off this February in the UK. She will continue to tour throughout Europe until March 27, ending in Portugal. However, more tour dates may be announced at a later date.
- The Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer, plans to release their first album this year. Despite not having an album out, the band has already won two awards; the Oz Artist Award and MTV’s Breakout Band Award. 5 Seconds of Summer also plan to tour the UK beginning February 23 and ending March 4.
