The Highlander bowling team has kicked off the season on a high note winning their first three matches of the season.
On Thursday, Dec. 5 the West Milford team matched up against its top rival, Lakeland. West Milford played well, winning each of the three games played. The Highlanders showed their dominance in the first game winning 836 to 630. In the second game it was much closer due to Tyler Knipping from Lakeland bowling a 298. But the Highlanders would come away with a win in the second game winning 774 to 746. In the final game, the score was much more like the first with the Highlanders winning 800 to 677.
The Highlander bowling team is looking to improve from the very successful year they had last year. The Highlanders had 17 wins in a row dating all the way back to last year until their loss on Dec. 9 against Wayne Valley, handing them their first loss of the season. West Milford and Wayne Valley spilt the first two of three games. The last game was very close and came down to the last frame but, Wayne Valley would hold onto their very slim lead.
When asked about how this team compares to last years team, Jeremy Scott said, “This team shows more effort. I also feel we will do better in the county and state tournament. We lost some solid players but we also gained a couple.”
It sounds like this year’s team has a lot to look forward to. Also with a 3-1 start there is a lot of upside for a team with only six players
