After many years of teaching at Macopin Middle School and coaching baseball, Mr. Trentacosta has taken over the Athletic Director position in the high school. His interest in the job was sparked by the 20 years he spent coaching and because of his enjoyment of the interactions between coaches and players. He has a variety of goals he wants to accomplish and is looking forward to a variety of upcoming events.
One of the goals Mr. Trentacosta has is “to work on social norms within athletics.” He also wants to help students find balance between athletics and academics. One of the major abilities a student athlete must have is to be able to maintain his/her grades and keep up with schoolwork while participating in the sport. Mr. Trentacosta hopes to be able to help students meet the goals they set for themselves both on the field and in the classroom.
Mr. Trentacosta is looking forward to a variety of events coming up in the school year. He recently met with the captains of the fall sports teams and had breakfast with them. Mr. Trentacosta is looking forward to meeting with the winter and spring sport captains later in the year. Trentacosta also brought up the West Milford Community Night he organized on Sept. 11, 2013. He was inspired to set up the Community Night after seeing a public speaker talk about bullying in sports. Mr. Trentacosta hopes to make this fun night where the community can come together an annual occurrence.
