Being a part of the West Milford Play School, I had the opportunity to see firefighters get ready for action! First and foremost, to put your minds at rest, there was no fire at the Playschool, instead there was a educational experience.
What I was able to witness was the West Milford Fire department come and talk to our young students about the importance of fire safety. They brought a truck and a fire man in full uniform. The fire man dressed up to show what he would look like if he had to go into a fire hazard zone; they don’t want the students to fear what they should be glad to see in a dangerous situation. They were very helpful and I feel like every child should learn the importance of fire safety. Fire is a dangerous thing for everyone, especially for a young child who doesn’t understand the situation he or she is in.
So on behalf of the West Milford Play School, I would like to formally thank the West Milford Fire Department for taking time out of their busy schedule to educate the children of this town. Fires are a scary thing, so as a family, have a meeting site for your family as far away from your house as you can, but where a firefighter will be able to spot you and anyone else. An ideal spot would be a mail box or a tree in the front of your house. Be safe and get educated to protect not just you but others.
