The galloping of the horses, the screams of the slain, and the sticky fingers of those who were not given utensils? Yes, it spells itself out to the best senior trip that our school has ever had, a day at Medieval Times! The seniors who attended can tell you their exact opinion on this exciting, riviting spectacular, but for now let’s go back in time and visit the amazement of the Renaissance.
On March 21, the West Milford High School senior class boarded buses and headed for Medieval Times in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. The class trip started with a bang as we arrived at the castle. As we entered the arena, we were impressed by all the amazing costumes and similarities to that of living in the time period known as the Renaissance. There was even a display of weaponry to wander through as we waited to be seated in the arena.
Once in the arena, I happened to be in the front row. All that stood between me and the galloping of the horses was thin plexiglass. The dueling began as they brought out the food and drinks, and we could eat while watching the show. There may have been no utensils, but that didn’t make the chicken less tasty. We cheered on our knight and booed their opponents in full-on Renaissance style. The excitement of the horses, the fun of being with our friends, and the intensity of the sword fights… the show was a delight for our social and mental enjoyment.
Overall, the trip was a treat for the senior class. Would we have liked to go to Florida or the Bahama’s? Yes, but this was nice also. The Medieval Times was a spectacle and as, a senior, I was more than glad to attend this traditional event. But i would still have preferred Florida, hint, hint.
