The high school held its annual health fair on Thursday, May 17th. All who participated declared the fair a success! Throughout the day, students and staff members visited the high school gym and gathered information from the many different vendors present.
Among the vendors were Goyerb’s Children Hospital, who gave out information on Teen Health, Mountain Creek, advertising their mountain biking trails, waterpark, & ski resort, and our own resident nurse handing out packets on health for weight loss or gain. Students were given free pressure point massages and stress balls. The EMT team was present, giving ‘rides’ to students to show them how they would be carried in the case of a back injury. Dozens more vendors were present as well, providing information on a wide range of activities and the topics of sexuality, living a healthy life, and ways to deal with daily stress.
The coordinators for this event, Mr. Poppe and Mrs. Cullen, said they believed it to be an enormous success. They stated that the health fair’s purpose was to inform the students on things that directly impact their lives, but about which they may have little information. There was an intentional focus on the benefits of talking out problems, getting active outside, joining different organizations, and enjoying life in the time we have to do so.
