The West Milford High School Football Team finished off their season with pride. Committed to hard work and the sport they love, the players remained focused game to game. They finished the season with a solid 4-6 record. Head Coach Dransfield was satisfied with the outcome, adding that all of the players learned about leadership, dedication and strength of mind.
Going into the season, Coach Dransfield and his staff were optimistic. The returning team was more than he could ask for. The coaches had high hopes and were expecting the best. Dransfield felt that the seniors were ones to keep an eye on, for they would help carry the team to victory.
The season itself proved to be very competitive. Coach Dransfield explained how difficult the season was with five playoff games and a conference in the north. As a result, the team went up against some of the most talented teams in northernNew Jersey. Dransfield shared, “It was a tough season, but rewarding and most definitely not a forgettable one.”
A key aspect that set this year’s team apart from all of the rest was the team leadership. When asked who the strongest team leader was, Dransfield said he could not pin-point a single person. It was all of the captains, as well as the seniors, who showed leadership to everyone on the team. He added that the four captains, Tyler Maurer, Andrew Clifford, John Quazza, and Nick Oreolo, were a big support to the younger players. They showed what it took to be on the varsity football team.
With the coaches pushing them to be at their best, the team accomplished a lot this season. The impressive 4-6 record shows how much the football team has grown and worked to get to where they are today. Coach Dransfield noted that, beyond success on the field, all the players gained life lessons about determination and drive.
Congratulations Highlanders
