ShopRite has been in town for decades now, and has stood the test of time. It has beat out its competitor A&P, and now remains as the only supermarket in all of West Milford. This is all well and good, except for the fact that ShopRite does not have enough space to accommodate all of the people who now need to shop there. With all the years that ShopRite has been in our town, the store hasn’t had to improve much from what it was. However, now the town plans to make more space in the store to benefit residents and add some new goodies along the way.
Recently ShopRite has formed and executed plans of expanding its parking lot. A new entrance to Shoprite was added in the middle of the parking lot. Some feel that although it may look pretty, it has indeed plowed over what used to be parking spaces, cramping the parking lot more than it should be. In addition to the entrance, ShopRite has added some greenery around its parking lot to make the dull asphalt lot have at least some appeal.
The Oasis Diner and Frank’s Pizzeria have been in our town for a long stretch of time, but their time here is coming to a close. Inserra does not plan renew either of these restaurant’s leases. With this said, the Oasis diner will be closing permanently, however, Frank’s Pizzeria is looking for a new establishment, although they haven’t found one as of yet. Inserra wishes to expand the ShopRite store itself and will need the space from both of these restaurants.
Inserra also wishes to add a new eatery to the main grocery store as part of the improvements. It is not clear at this time exactly what this eatery will be. Possibilities include a Starbucks, other type of coffee bar/cafe, or even an Italian restaurant.
The last improvement that Inserra is planning is an overhaul of the storefront. ShopRite has had the same signage since the 1960s and owners feel that it would be in their best interests to make the storefront look more appealing and fix the outside up a bit.
These renovations are just a few of many that Inserra plans to make to the ShopRite plaza, and though none of these renovations have a solidified date, be sure to expect these changes to come soon.
