Slightly less exciting Tuesday takes place

It’s not hard to see that this election is one giant mess. It’s been turned into a reality t.v. show and the Internet has turned everything into a stupid meme. However, as we approach Election Day, we begin to see it boil down to a few competitors. Through the state primaries, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Ben Carson, and now Marco Rubio have exited the presidential race. A couple of democrats have dropped out as well, but honestly, they haven’t had a leg to stand on since the primaries began. On March 1, the event known as Super Tuesday was held. Eleven state caucuses, which are meant to predict who will really step forward into the final election, were held.
The results were as follows: Trump in first, Cruz with in second, and Rubio in third. Kasich and Carson merely trailed behind these three, ultimately not winning any states. It was predicted that Trump would, at this point, begin to lose traction. But this was not the case, and the GOP is worried that they’ll have to begin treating this man as a legitimate candidate. Cruz came in close, becoming a real rival to Trump, winning his home state of Texas by a large margin, as well as taking Alaska and Oklahoma. Rubio has begun using Trump’s tactics of personal attacks in order to deface Trump. Apparently he intends to “fight fire with fire”. Due to Carson’s staggering defeat, he has, in fact, dropped out.
Clinton won the Democrats by storm as Sanders is not doing well with the minority or Southern voters. Because Clinton’s voter range is as vast as it is, she easily took the Southern states. Sanders is still rolling through, as he continues to run against Hillary, but his defeat does not bode well for everyone’s favorite Democratic Socialist.
On March 15th, the slightly less exciting Tuesday took place, in which five states held their primaries.. Rubio dropped out after losing his home state, Florida. The repercussions of this for Rubio are grim. Rubio has now lost hope of running for another term as State Senator, being as he lost his home state, and is now retiring from politics. Kasich, however, did win his home state of Ohio in the caucuses, and has kept himself in the running-for now. Cruz won no states, but came close several times, keeping him alive. Trump however, was the ultimate winner, by no surprise.
For our Democrats, Clinton swept through the primaries, winning every state. We continue to see Bernie pulling through, though it is becoming harshly clear that Clinton will be the Democratic Nominee. After Super Tuesday, we can expect to see much change regarding Trump, as members of the GOP are seemingly picking sides-those who accept Trump, and those who seek to bring Trump down. We can clearly see that this fall’s election will come down to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. However, there is still some time for developments to occur. What seemingly may happen, is the GOP will choose Cruz or Kasich, which is very anti-democracy, Trump will run as an independent, splitting the Republican vote just like in 1912, and Clinton will become president. That is my guess though, we’ll just have to see how things play out in November.
