“Jazz music has always been America’s true art form,” says Mr. Gramata, founder of West Milford’s Jazz Program.
The program started in of 2010 and has grown to be one of the most competitive programs in West Milford’s music department. Before, one group of twenty- two students were rehearsing; now, more than forty of West Milford Highlander Band’s top musicians are participating in one of the best Jazz Programs in Northern New Jersey. The Jazz program contains a Jazz Band and an elite Jazz Ensemble. Both groups are striving to be one of the best high school jazz bands in the state.
Mr. Gramata has always loved jazz music and has been playing jazz music throughout his musical career. The jazz festival that he hosts every year is known as the largest jazz festival held in Northern New Jersey.
So when you come out to see the jazz groups perform, you will can look forward to the excitement and variety of styles and composers such as Tom Cubis and Whiplash.
