Big changes coming to WM!

Many are acquainted with the Stop & Shop and Pathmark in Butler and Kinnelon respectively. Come October 21st, however, things will be changing. Pathmark has been bought out by Stop & Shop, and so the Butler Stop & Shop will now move into the place where the current Pathmark is. The transition will take, Stop & Shop says, less than a week. However, the Butler Stop & Shop’s lease is not up until March. This means that there will be two Stop & Shops directly across from each other. Little is known about what will be taking the Butler Stop & Shop’s place, as it is only shrouded in rumor. The most prominent rumor spreading, is that a Trader Joe’s will be taking place. This is neither confirmed nor denied, however, the only thing that will reveal the answer is time.

Another change coming from the same relative area involves the businesses near Petco  that seem to be dropping like flies. This is seemingly in preparation for a new Marshalls. Rumors of threats from Marshall’s to cancel their addition have been spreading due to consistent delays. The Marshalls is set to occupy the area where Marty’s Shoes, PNC Bank, and Mandee’s are located, as well as two vacant lots. The PNC Bank is set to be move somewhere else within the shopping center. This inclusion shall provide jobs, which could potentially employ students of West Milford High School., and a much needed clothing store closer to this area.

Something else that has been much awaited in West Milford is TJ Maxx. In preparation, they have already torn down the front of the movie theater. Here are some ways I think this will benefit West Milford. One way is the fact that it will bring in people from New York. Because there is no tax on clothes in New Jersey, people will come from New York to purchase goods in our town. Another benefit of this is jobs for those seeking employment in West Milford or anywhere else nearby. Because people from New York will be coming into New Jersey, it also increases the possibility of them purchasing gas in our town. All these new ways to generate revenue will greatly increase West Milford’s spending.

Lastly, the addition of West Milford’s new public library. The project by the board has been planned on since 2013, but it is now officially being funded. Changing from a three story design to a two story design and now being said that it will cost 4.2M to build. It is hoped that this library will come soon, as the current public library is, to say the least, a bit unsatisfactory.
