Senior Chris Paulino of West Milford High School’s Golf Team bested the defending champion to win the individual Passaic County title. The event was held on Wednesday, May 18 at the par-sixty nine west course at the Preakness Valley Golf Club.
Paulino shot 72 to beat last year’s champ, Ryan Fitzsimmons of DePaul, by one stroke as the two battled from the blue tees toe-to-toe. This is the only the second time in West Milford’s history anyone has taken the title!
Paulino sank a seven-foot par putt on the eighteenth hole to secure the victory. Paulino also recorded fourteen pars, two bogeys, one double and one birdie. After double bogeying the eleventh hole, Paulino rebounded on the sixteenth hole with his lone birdie.
West Milford finished in third place with a total of three hundred and forty nine. Wayne Hills finished in first with a total score of three hundred and ten, and second to Wayne Valley at three hundred and thirty seven points. Our very own Highlanders who competed were Chris Paulino at 72 points, Andrew Finke at 81 points, John Kerpel and 97 points, and Sean Janecek at 99 points. Well done, Highlanders!
