Warren Hills Regional High School quarterback Evan Murphy was seriously injured during a football game Friday, September 26. During the second quarter, he stepped out of the game and then collapsed on the sideline. He was rushed to the hospital and died in Morristown Medical Center.
According to Evan’s autopsy, his spleen was enlarged and then ruptured due to the collision on the field. The spleen is known as the most frequently injured abdominal organ in sports, especially football. Evan Murphy’s teammates claim that he wasn’t feeling one hundred percent before the game.
Murray was an avid sports fan and loved playing football, baseball, and basketball. He was 17-years old and was near the top of his class academically. He had planned to attend a four year university.
