It has recently come to my attention that in just two days our very own beloved West Milford High School will be saying goodbye to its students and shutting its doors. It saddens me deeply to know that so soon I’ll have to leave this building and say goodbye to my teachers and fellow students. Love it or hate it, one must admit that being forced to leave it for any significant amount of time will be an adjustment.
An anonymous junior says, “I can’t wait to get out of here. I am glad this school is closing,” while another fellow Highlander, a senior, says, “I never thought I would be sad to leave this place, but I really am. I am going to go cry now.” Who is to label this a good thing or a bad thing though? As deeply as I may be saddened by this impending closure, there’s a saying “When one door closes, another opens.” Perhaps this happening will be an opportunity for us to readjust, to move on to a track that suits us best. The ending to one thing is just the beginning to another – whether that new beginning is a positive or negative one is up to you. Good luck; make the best out of this.
Have a wonderful life, Highlanders.
