Sophia Metcalf

Sophia Metcalf is a junior at West Milford High School. She is involved in student government, the yearbook, the model UN team, the musical, the marching band, and various choirs, such as chamber and gospel. Outside of school, she affiliates herself with Nerdfighters, Whovians, and other similar internet nerd-clusters. She plays guitar, writes music, and enjoys spoken word. Although she is unsure of where her path in life will lead her, she wants to live in a big city where she can interact with many different kinds of people.

Ashley Law

Ashley is in her second year as a writer and editor for the Highland Echo. She is in the West Milford Highlander Marching Band; she plays in the clarinet section. In the winter, she is on the Girls Varsity Fencing team. In the future, she wants to be a marine biologist specializing in the habits of marine mammals.

Andrew Gorga

Andrew Gorga: Senior, Writer and Editor

Andrew Gorga is in his first year of Journalism on the Highland Echo staff. He transferred to West Milford in his junior year from Hawthorne High School. Along with being an editor and writer on the newspaper staff, he is involved in the Lighting and Audio Department, the Critical Thinking Club, and Interact Club. Andrew is the stage manger for this year’s school musical and gives tours at Long Pond Ironworks State Park.

Laura Freedman is very excited for her first year on the newspaper staff as a writer, copy editor, and part time photographer. She is currently a freshman and has just finished her first year of field hockey. In addition to field hockey and the school newspaper, Laura is in Women’s Choir and Interact Club, and is planning to participate in the high school musical.

Melanie Dowling

Melanie Dowling is currently a writer, copy editor and a part time photographer for the Highland Echo. Outside of the newspaper, she plays on the school’s Field Hockey team. She is the Treasurer of the Women’s Choir and is in the Interact Club, and is involved in the High School Musical. Her favorite colors are pink and blue, and skis when she is able to with her busy schedule. Her favorite bands are Ellie Goulding and Taylor Swift.

Nicole Meszaros

 Nicole Meszaros: Writer; Senior

In a way to get more involved in the school, Nicole joined the Highland Echo this year. Although she is new, she has always loved writing. In addition to the school’s newspaper, she is also currently involved in the Green Team, Interact Club, German Honor Society, and the National Honor Society. She likes to play the piano, read, and spend time with her friends too.

Alanah Kuhn

 

Alanah Kuhn is the currently in her second year of journalism with the school’s new online newspaper. While acting as the Editor In Chief, she also works as a staff writer.

One day she aspires to be a published novelist and be able to still report to a magazine or newspaper on the side. She is studying the Latin language as well as Greek, Japanese, Polish, and Spanish.

She will hopefully be backpacking through Europe at the end of the 2013 school year.
